We hope you enjoy your new computer.
The cost of the computer is free or low because of the willingness of many others to help you with your education, employment, and other goals.
Some who receive the computer are very experienced and need no support.
If you need support, here are a few suggestions:
Update: The laptop has been upgraded and tested. Windows 10 or 11 has been installed. When you first plug in and power up the computer, it may have to restart to update the operating system. This may take a few minutes, so just let it run until all the updates are loaded. Once they are loaded, the laptop will run just fine.
Battery: Most likely the battery will be low when you first get your device. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. Allow a few hours for the battery to charge. Once your battery is charged, you can use your laptop.
Password: When the home screen comes up, it will ask for a password. For most laptops, just hit “enter”. If you receive an Apple laptop, the password may be four zeros: 0000. The laptop may also ask you to reset your password. Just hit “enter” if you don’t want a password. If you want a password, enter and remember your new password.
Questions: If you have a question, ask a friend, or search the internet for the answer. Many questions regarding a laptops or Chromebook are answered on our websites: ComputerCampus.org and www.TechCharities.org
Word Processor: If you need a word processor installed on your computer and you are a student, contact your teacher for a free version of Microsoft Office. Google also has a free word processor and spreadsheet.
