Wasatch Community Gardens’ Green Phoenix Farm
Jackie Rodabaugh is amazing. She is from Wasatch Community Gardens, ‘Green Phoenix Farm’, a 1.38 acre nonprofit urban farm located in west downtown Salt Lake City. The ‘Green Team’ donates all produce to low income families, and also provides a job training program for farm-based employment, work readiness training, job placement assistance, and mentoring for women facing homelessness. Program partners help support these women in accessing safe, affordable, and long-term housing. This 12 week program helps women regain a sense of personal self-worth. They work with mentors to set healthy goals and a plan of action to become self-sustaining. Green Phoenix Farm is also a place for individuals and groups…

Tribute to BYU Pathway Volunteers
Lorri is an instructor for BYU Pathway students in Uganda. The students think she is simply the best. And rightfully so. Each Thursday morning, she gets online from her home in Utah to help them with their assignments. Recently, she went the third mile to help each of them get a computer. Have you ever tried to ship anything from Utah to Uganda? It is not easy. Lorri used a lot of her own money and many others also helped. It was a team effort. Lorri is one of many volunteers who is serving without pay to help BYU Pathway students. TechCharities shipped three boxes of computers to her…

2021 Annual Report
TechCharities provides free or nearly free computers and training to help qualified individuals and charitable agencies reach their goals. The wide range of needs is shown in the few statements below. I work at the Glendale Library in Salt Lake City, and I’m emailing you on behalf of a library patron who is trying to find a place where they could get a laptop, hopefully for free. If you could give me some information to pass on to this person, that would be helpful! Thanks so much. I’d like to buy a set of laptops/Chromebooks for our current refugees in bulk, would you please let me…

National Christina Foundation – Closing the Gap: Part II
The supply of good used computers is what we need most. We have great technicians, volunteers, and a long line of deserving people who need computers. Supply is the constraint. Last November, the National Christina Foundation arranged a large donation from a local company. It was a gift. Click here to read about the donation last November 45 Laptops 271 Desktops 547 Monitors Moving the computers was just the beginning. We placed a number on every computer. The serial number of every hard drive was scanned and cataloged. And the data from each hard drive was then erased using Department of Defence standards or its equivalent. Next the…

2020 Annual Report
Demand for Computers The pandemic of 2020 changed how we do business. As you can imagine, the demand for Chromebooks and laptop computers exploded early in the year as more and more parents and children were forced to stay home. Families, especially low income families, were not prepared to use the internet for schooling and jobs. And, of course, the devices had to have cameras and our greatest demand has been for Chromebooks Supply of Used Computers The supply side of our business also changed dramatically. We stopped receiving computers from organizations that had consistently provided their used computers for many years. It is understandable because they felt responsible to…

Thanks to National Cristina Foundation and a Generous Donor
It is amazing. It happens over and over. Just when we think we will run out of computers, someone makes a donation just in time. And, it happened again. The National Cristina Foundation called and said that they had a very generous offer from a nearby company that was willing to donate their computers and monitors. Would we be interested? Of course! The demand for computers has been extraordinary because of Covid 19 and our distribution has nearly tripled the last few months. Again, the offer was just in time. We rented a U-Haul, called a few friends, and spend the day loading a new supply of computers for the…

Friends of Bethlehem
If you like Bethlehem, you will like this project Many abandoned and handicapped children in Bethlehem end up in Hoger Nino Dios (God’s Home for Children). This organization helps abandoned children, especially children with special needs. During normal times, many of the tourists provide support for the children. But, now, Bethlehem is closed and The Church of the Nativity is empty. There are no tourists in Bethlehem. The foster home is struggling to make ends meet. Mohammed Al Shaibat, a good friend to BYU students and families, has supported Hoger Nino Dios for many years. He is helping them get some very needed training equipment for the children The…
