Since 2013, TechCharities has received, refurbished, and distributed donated laptops to agencies and missionaries supporting BYU-Pathway students. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide and provide laptops to students so they can achieve their educational goals.

How are the laptops distributed?
Some are given directly to students by mail or by those who visit the store in Salt Lake City. Most laptops are distributed to students by BYU-Pathway missionaries and non-profit agencies such as The Lord’s Hands and Help Start Education Foundation.
How is the allocation of laptops managed?
A representative from BYU-Pathway, TechCharities, and two non-profit agencies meet quarterly and review the demand, quality, costs, and allocation of laptops.
How are the costs of refurbishing, shipping, and distribution covered?
Management and most staff are volunteers. Overhead and shipping costs are covered by financial donations. The costs of repairing laptops are covered by donations for international students. Domestic students, when possible, also pay a small administrative fee to help offset the costs.
Is TechCharities willing to pay a fee to the company donating the laptops?
Yes. If necessary, TechCharities will pay a fee to help offset the loss of income that the company would have received by selling the laptop. The company can also receive a tax credit for the donation to TechCharities, a 501(c)(3) organizations.
